Lock & Security Best Practices

How to properly lock your bike, where to park, and why using your lock is required for theft protection.

Your subscription includes a high-quality lock, and using it properly is an important part of keeping your bike safe. It's required for your theft protection to apply.

Always lock your bike

Any time you leave your bike unattended β€” even for a quick stop β€” lock it up. It only takes a moment, and it's the single most effective thing you can do to prevent theft.

How to lock properly

  • Your dealer will show you proper locking technique during your new bike day walkthrough

  • Make sure the object you're locking to can't be easily lifted over or unbolted

  • Keep the lock off the ground β€” it's harder to break when it's not resting on a surface

Where to park

  • Choose well-lit, high-traffic areas when possible

  • Use dedicated bike racks and bike parking areas

  • Avoid leaving your bike locked in the same spot outdoors for extended periods

  • If you can bring it inside at home or work, that's always the safest option

Additional security tips

  • All Friiway subscription bikes come with GPS tracking, adding an extra layer of security and aiding recovery in the event of theft

  • If your lock is damaged or lost, contact your dealer for a replacement right away β€” don't ride without one

  • Get in the habit of locking up every time, even in places that feel safe

Why it matters

Using your provided lock is part of your responsibility as a subscriber. If your bike is stolen and the lock wasn't in use, your theft protection may not apply. A few seconds of locking up is worth the peace of mind.

Your dealer will walk you through proper locking technique on pickup day. Reach out to them with any security questions.
