Every Friiway subscription includes protection against theft and accidental damage. When you subscribe, you pay a $500 security deposit. If something happens to your bike, your maximum out-of-pocket is that deposit — you're never on the hook for the full value of the bike.
How it works
Your $500 security deposit covers two scenarios:
Theft — If your bike is stolen, the deposit covers the loss. You won't be charged the full replacement cost.
Accidental damage — If your bike is damaged in a crash, fall, or other incident, a maximum of $500 from your deposit goes toward the repair costs.
What's covered vs. what's not
Covered:
Theft of your bike
Accidental damage (crashes, falls, impacts)
Not covered:
Normal wear and tear — that's handled under your subscription's maintenance benefit at no cost. See What's Covered Under Maintenance.
Damage from misuse or neglect
Cosmetic damage that doesn't affect the bike's function
GPS tracking and recovery
All Friiway subscription bikes are equipped with GPS tracking units. In the event of a theft, we'll work to recover your bike, which helps reduce the risk of loss for everyone involved.
Requirements
To be eligible for theft protection, you'll need to have been using the lock provided with your subscription. Proper lock use is part of your responsibility as a subscriber — see Your Lock & Security Best Practices for guidance.
