Swapping Your Bike
One of the best things about subscribing is that you can try different bikes before making a purchase decision. If your needs change — or you just want to try something different — you can swap to a different model during your subscription.
What's a swap?
A swap is when you trade your current bike for a different one. Maybe you want to try a different model, your needs changed, or you need a different frame size. Your access to a bike continues uninterrupted; the bike just changes.
When you can swap
Anytime after your first month, subject to availability of the bike you want.
Swaps are typically free of charge when you're moving between bikes at the same subscription tier. If you're moving to a higher-tier bike, your monthly subscription rate adjusts to the new tier going forward.
How to swap — the default process
Swap requests aren't yet self-serve in the portal. Contact your local Friiway shop to start — they own your subscription day-to-day. Find your shop's contact info at friiway.com/pages/our-retailers or in your account.
Tell your shop:
The bike you currently have
The bike you'd like to swap to (or a description — "something with a step-through frame," "a longtail for two kids," etc.)
Why you're swapping (sizing issue, model preference, life change, problem with the current bike)
Your timing preference
Your shop checks availability, confirms the swap-to bike and any rate change, and books your swap appointment. At the appointment, they fit you to the new bike, and the swap is complete. You ride away on the new one.
Under the hood, your original subscription will be cancelled and a new one will be created. If your monthly rate changed, the new rate starts the next billing cycle.

Got a Friiway subscription through your employer's program?
If you're enrolled in an employer program through Friiway, your swap may have program-specific touches around timing, location, or how it interacts with your benefit. You'll see a program-specific article in your Help Center with the details, or email [email protected] and we'll point you to the right place.
FAQ
Can I swap to a bike that's not in stock? We can put you on a wait list. Swap timing depends on availability.
What happens to my security deposit? It carries over to the new bike. No new deposit is required for a like-for-like swap. If you're swapping up to a higher-deposit bike, the difference may be charged.
Can I request a swap from account.friiway.com? Not yet — the portal supports view, return, contact info, and payment changes. Swaps still go through your shop (or Friiway in the Bay Area). We'll update this article when that changes.
