One of the best things about subscribing is that you can try different bikes before deciding to buy. If your needs change — or you just want something different — you can swap models during your subscription.
What's a swap?
A swap is trading your current bike for a different one. Your access to a bike carries on uninterrupted; only the bike changes.
When you can swap
Any time after your first month, subject to availability of the bike you want.
Swaps are free when you're moving between bikes at the same subscription tier. Moving to a higher tier adjusts your monthly rate going forward.
How to arrange a swap
If your local shop manages your subscription Contact your shop to start — they own your subscription day to day. Their contact details are at friiway.com/pages/our-retailers or in your account.
If Friiway manages your subscription Get in touch with Friiway — there's no need to contact the shop yourself. We'll check availability, confirm any rate change, and coordinate your swap appointment at your local partner shop. In the San Francisco Bay Area, that's The New Wheel — see Friiway in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Not sure which applies to you? See Friiway and Your Local Shop — Who Does What.
Riding through an employer program?
Your swap may have a few program-specific touches — timing, location, or how it works with your benefit. Check your program's article in this Help Center for the details.
FAQ
Can I swap to a bike that's not in stock? We can add you to a wait list. Swap timing depends on availability.
What happens to my deposit?
Your deposit is tied to a specific bike in our system, so during a swap you may be asked to pay the new bike's deposit up front. Once your original bike is returned, that deposit is refunded (typically 1–3 days). You're briefly holding two deposits during the handover, then refunded.
